February 2024 Full Moon: Alice in Wonderland

Full Moon in Virgo

This lunation is ruled by Mercury residing in the 12th house. Mercury is combusted, in detriment, and in the sign of its fall. Mercury, as the 3rd house ruler in the chart, shows this will not be a time of clear and reliable communication and will bring challenges in our daily routine. All areas of commerce, communication, from offices, to social media, and any places of trade and transaction will have mishaps, become disorderly, and will experience troubles. Probably not a good time to start something new in the realm of business, transaction, as well as conducting reliable communication with others.

The US recently witnessed a negative impact toward its communications sphere which occurred on February 22nd.  Major cell phone companies suffered an outage due to an unclear technical error, a classic Mercurial unfoldment, as several thousand people were without phone and internet service for nearly a day. This occurred at the same time transiting Mercury was about to leave the sign of Aquarius and fall into Pisces.

Also, the people will turn toward introverted activities. Mercury in Pisces, conjunct fixed star Fomalhaut, will be inclined toward the psychic and astral realms. Being in the sign ruled by Jupiter, who is currently ruler of the 9th house, will pull Mercury toward the spiritual and religious side. However, Mercury being weak in the 12th house, the inclination will be toward ghosts, hauntings, otherworldliness as this lunation remains active until March 10. Being in the last sign of the zodiac, a mutable sign of endings and beginnings, and Mercury as ruler of the 4th house, thoughts of the past, history, ancestry, and anything related to that which has been long gone, perhaps past lives, will come to the surface, albeit in a manner that is faint and hard to verify.

In the Vedic lunar mansion system, the Moon is moving through the 10th mansion of the Lion’s Heart. The fixed star Regulus rules over this mansion. This further adds to a desire for tradition, a look back to the way things were, and looking at the past, and seeking a connection to our predecessors, but not necessarily sprung out of love for the past, or the betterment of the whole, but one of pride, and the idea that life was somehow better back then, even if that wasn’t quite true.
